  • I've been "invited" to write the first review. Indeed, I feel called upon to comment having been an ardent member, 1988-93, only to move away (where I joined another UU congregation). Due to news I received yesterday I am planning to make a return visit to the Church soon as I expect it will be the site of a memorial service for my close UU friend, Wes Tollber (1924-2010). I feel fortunate to still have friends at this church, find friends who are tried and true.

  • Been going there for 17 years. I having definite eclectic beliefs found myself right at home.

  • I went here for a few months before I moved out to Olympia. I never really considered myself the "religious" type, in fact, in many ways quite the opposite. Yet over the years I found myself growing spiritually and yearning to connect with others on such paths. I did not wish to be limited to one set of beliefs, and wanted to meet others that felt similar. After some searching, I discovered Unitarian Universalism and that there was a church a 1/2 hour's bike ride away from me.

I visited with some hesitation and left with absolute delight! Everyone was extremely welcoming and made me feel immediately right at home. For those, such as myself, wishing to also explore certain paths a little deeper, they have lots of different study groups that meet up at different times of the week. Most of my experience was visiting a Zen meditation group and I have to say, that group was amazing! I was disappointed to have to move before I was able to really explore some of the other groups.

There is some hand-holding and lots of hugging, which at first was a little uncomfortable and kind of took me by surprise. It's certainly nothing I could complain about though as I think humanity has gotten rather fearful of closeness and physical touch. A few more weeks, and I probably would have felt right at home with the idea!

There is lots of singing, but the songs selected cover a wide range of themes and belief systems. I really enjoyed that! I also really enjoyed the fact that there was not a whole lot of "preaching" going on, just good talks, discussions, and presentations.

Now that I have moved to Olympia, I am hoping to explore the Church that is somewhat close to here.

Best of luck to anyone that wants to check it out, I highly suggest visiting!
