  • This was my first time being there and they had just moved into a new building and it was the dedication service. The moment a friend and I walked in, they welcomed us with huge genuine smile and got so busy right away trying to help us saying "how can we help you!" They took my diaper bags and heavy car seat and escorted to the worship place. One could see the atmosphere of lobby was lively, friendly, welcoming, and joyful. When I went back to the lobby to find bathroom to change diaper, a lady immediately noticed and helped finding it and also the nursery in which they provided child care. My 8 month old often cried when I left him, even with grandma, but he was happy when I left him and happy when I picked him up. He had a blow out, and they took a good care of him. Such great team of caregivers that love kids! K-12 and youth and high school programs available as well.

Worship was awesome! Not just because I was without my kids, because there was strong and sweet presence of God I could feel. They had a heart of acknowledging each other and showing gratitude to members that served for special purposes. Message was great and spoken in a way it was very powerful enough to change lives and our attitude everyday and simple enough to remember and detailed application was suggested to really make a difference.

At the end they played a song that reflected the founding concept of this church that was very beautiful and heartfelt. I was able to find the song online. I wasn't able to find any recording as beautifully and freely sung as what I heard that day online, though.

Souls on the street addicted to sin
    Selling themselves to survive
Not understanding the hope they could find
In a place where God’s love is alive
They doubt that they could meet the standards necessary
And fear they’ll find judgement rather than a sanctuary

    Chorus
This must be a place where a broken heart can mend
This must be a place where an outcast finds a friend
For we cannot lift the fallen
If our hands are holding stones
And their sin that seems so great to us
Is no greater than our own
There must come a point where shame meets grace
And this must be the place

The neighbor next door keeps the house looking good
But the home is collapsing within
Pressures of life tear a family apart
    And temptations destruction begins
They doubt the church could have the answers necessary
And fear they’ll find rejection rather than a sanctuary

    Bridge
This church must be the arms of God reaching out to bring them in
To a place where they can find God’s love regardless of their sin

And this must be the place
and that's why we're named GRACE PLACE

I highly recommend this church to anyone in Tacoma area that's looking for a family to love on you and help you grow and reach your potential with the love of Christ.

  • Grace Place has the same warm comforting feeling as coming home, that must be why they say welcome home when they greet you at the door. I didn't feel judged or looked down upon at all. Everyone was smiling and friendly. The worship was amazing and the word powerful and moving.

This church has moved. It is still led by pastor danny thomas and is now at 6202 S Tyler St. Tacoma.

I haven't been there in a long time so I can't really review it other than to say it was small the last time I went there and I prefer the larger churches with a full worship team and all the multimedia. It also tended to attract very new believers so if you've been a Christian for a long time, this might lack the depth you've been looking for.

Pastor Danny is a very loving and sincere man. I grew up with his family at Life Center and he always checks in on me when I'm in town.
